Overview
How do we foster human connections in virtual spaces? How do we ensure technology is used to enhance creativity and collaboration with young children? This workshop offers practice examining and redesigning appropriate technology with young children.

Objective
Upon completion, learner will be able to:
  • Design experiences to engage in play through an adult lens.
  • Identify and describe appropriate technologies and the concept of digital humanity within play by reflecting on video presentation content.
  • Design experiences to engage children deepening their human relationships through high technology by utilizing presented content.
  • Develop next steps for self-exploration.
Competencies
This training aligns to Colorado's Competencies for Early Childhood Educators and Administrators.


Teaching Practices 15.2 Effectively engages children by applying knowledge of individual children’s interests, child development, curricula, and the Early Learning and Development Guidelines. Strategies include guided exploration, building vocabulary, and learning activities combining literature, science, math, and social studies.

Teaching Practices 23.3 Plans and implements guidelines around current best practices on the use of technology by children and staff.

Teaching Practices 28.2 Plans and implements strategies for children to expand their world around them and their place in it to include family, neighborhood, and community.

Registration
Participants register and make payment through Boulder Journey School. Upon completion of course, participant data will be forwarded to PDIS with certificate issued through PDIS account.

This course has been recognized as aligned to The Colorado Competencies and meeting best practice standards for adult instruction through the Colorado Shines PDIS Training Alignment Process. The Rules Regulating Child Care Facilities, issued by the Division of Early Care and Learning, Colorado Department of Human Services, take precedence over any course content.
