Overview
Exploring Art in Early Childhood is a training for early childhood providers to have a hands-on experience in using art with young children. Participants will explore several different types of art and discuss the difference between product and process art. Come prepared to get messy in this 3-hour active learning course.

Early childhood professionals in Jefferson, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Denver, Arapahoe, Douglas, Broomfield, Boulder, Weld, Larimer, Adams, and Park counties.

Objective

Upon completion, the learner will be able to:

  • List three developmentally appropriate materials they can use in their classroom.

  • Identify three fine motor activities they can do in the classroom with infants/toddlers and preschoolers.

  • List three ways worksheets impact children’s development.

  • Share one example of positive reinforcement.

Competencies

This training aligns to Colorado's Competencies for Early Childhood Educators and Administrators:

Teaching Practice 39.1:  Identifies open ended materials which encourage creativity; describes how the process of creating is more important than the end product. 

Teaching Practice 42.2: Provides supportive practices in the learning standards/guidelines that are adapted based on children’s typical development.

This course has been recognized as aligned to The Colorado Competencies and meeting best practice standards for adult instruction through the Colorado Shines PDIS Training Alignment Process. The Rules Regulating Child Care Facilities, issued by the Division of Early Care and Learning, Colorado Department of Human Services, take precedence over any course content.
