An Introduction to Project Based Learning in Early Childhood

Introduces Project Based Learning (PBL) in early childhood classrooms (infant-preschool) based on NAEYC’s Young Investigators—The Project Approach in Early Years—2nd Edition. Participants will learn the benefits of PBL, structure, phases of implementation, roles of adults & children, and how to align this approach with Creative Curriculum objectives.

Webinar. Participants must have internet access and a device, such as a laptop or desktop computer, to participant in training. Please see information below on how to register. 

Target Audience
Early childhood teachers, directors, and classroom therapists

Training/education in early childhood recommended. Experience with young children and some familiarity with Creative Curriculum recommended, but not required.

$15 per participant. Fee may vary if course is scheduled for an entire program’s staff.
Upon completion, learner will be able to: 

  • Using the information presented, the participant will demonstrate an introductory understanding of Project Based Learning as a curriculum-based approach, by demonstrating the ability to identify the three phases of Project Based Learning.
  • Identify a project to be used in his/her current classroom and an activity to align with at least one Creative Curriculum objective.
This training aligns to Colorado's Competencies for Early Childhood Educators and Administrators.

Teaching Practices 4.2 Implements and monitors curriculum-based learning opportunities and learning opportunities in the classroom.

Registration takes place in PDIS once an event is scheduled. Cindy is a Colorado credentialed coach and trainer, certified CLASS observer at the infant, toddler, and pre-k levels, and a Colorado licensed principal and teacher (ECE & Special Education Specialist) with 43 years in the early childhood education field. This course has been recognized as aligned to The Colorado Competencies and meeting best practice standards for adult instruction through the Colorado Shines PDIS Training Alignment Process. The Rules Regulating Child Care Facilities, issued by the Division of Early Care and Learning, Colorado Department of Human Services, take precedence over any course content.
