Overview
Enriching early childhood experiences support brain development and form bonds between children and adults that are essential for healthy physical, cognitive, and social development. We will explore how relationships between adults and children, and between brain and body, are enhanced by music and sensory, control and exploratory experiences. This training provides strategies and resources that support learning through music and movement for three different ages and stages including: infants (pre-crawlers), babies (crawlers) and toddlers (walkers).

Target Audience
Infant-toddler staff, Early Childhood teachers and directors.

Recommendations
Participants must have an interest in instilling healthy habits in young children. Participants must be willing to participate in lively music based physical activity. Accommodations will be made for those with physical special needs.

Objective

Upon completion, the learner will be able to:

  • List and describe at least two strategies that promote sensory, control, and exploratory experiences for babies and toddlers.

Competencies

This training aligns to Colorado's Competencies for Early Childhood Educators and Administrators.

  • Teaching Practices 43.1: Defines strategies for children both in the classroom and at home to explore multi-sensory experiences.

This course has been recognized as aligned to The Colorado Competencies and meeting best practice standards for adult instruction through the Colorado Shines PDIS Training Alignment Process. The Rules Regulating Child Care Facilities, issued by the Division of Early Care and Learning, Colorado Department of Human Services, take precedence over any course content.
