Overview
Join this training to learn how your professional experience can influence policy related to early learning, and how to craft language that forms the base of advocacy. In this training you will develop that language in the form of an elevator pitch, practice that "pitch," and learn how to contact lawmakers for future advocacy opportunities. You will learn to channel your professional experience and commitment to early learning into advocacy skills.

Objective
Upon completion, learner will be able to:

  • Participants will identify the 4 elements of an “elevator pitch” and learn how to include their professional and lived experience to share the importance of early learning with elected officials and community leaders.
  • Participants will practice their "elevator pitch" in order to be prepared for future advocacy opportunities.
  • Participants will identify one or more resources to locate information for contacting their elected officials.

This training aligns to Colorado's Competencies for Early Childhood Educators and Administrators.
Professional Development and Leadership 10.1 Describes basic advocacy skills.

This course has been recognized as aligned to The Colorado Competencies and meeting best practice standards for adult instruction through the Colorado Shines PDIS Training Alignment Process. The Rules Regulating Child Care Facilities, issued by the Division of Early Care and Learning, Colorado Department of Human Services, take precedence over any course content.
