Overview
The Inclusion Sequence addresses the seven local recommendations from the “Policy Statement on Inclusion of Children with Disabilities in Early Childhood Programs,” released jointly by the Departments of Education (ED) and Health and Human Services (HHS) on September 14, 2015 that states “that all young children with disabilities should have access to inclusive high-quality early childhood programs, where they are provided with individualized and appropriate support in meeting high expectations.”

The sequence is a collection of linked courses that are intended to be taken in sequential order for a total of 7 contact hours of credit in Colorado Shines. 
1. Foundations of Inclusion – 1 hour credit
2. Colorado Shines Welcoming Children with Special Needs - 1 hour credit 
3. CDE Transition in Early Childhood Overview - 1 hour credit 
4. CDE Transition in Early Childhood Preparation and Adjustment – 1 hour credit
5. CDE Leading and Adapting Learning in Inclusive Preschools - 1 hour credit 
6. CDE Promoting Friendships in High Quality Inclusive Environments - 2 hours credit 

Target Audience

Individuals who work in programs where children with disabilities attend.
Objective
By completing this sequence of courses, the learner will understand and use strategies to include children with disabilities in early childhood programs.

The sequence addresses the following areas in the Early Childhood Competencies that are essential to including young children with high needs in quality preschool programs.
