CPR and First Aid Certification

Course Number
You cannot become First Aid and CPR certified through the PDIS at this time. 

This training is available through approved training vendors. Information on who must be certified in first aid and CPR is listed below under "Regulations."

If you are not required to be certified, you can take the "Introduction to CPR and First Aid" online course, which is offered through the PDIS.


Rules Regulating Child Care Centers:
  • 7.702.46A5, There must be at least one (1) staff member on duty in each infant room at all times who holds a current Department-approved First Aid and Safety certificate that includes CPR for all ages of children.7.702.47D, For every 15 or fewer toddlers, there must be at least one (1) staff member in the toddler program at all times who has a current Department-approved First Aid and CPR for all ages of children.
  • 7.702.52.B4, For every 30 or fewer children in attendance, there must be at least one (1) staff member on duty who holds a current Department-approved first aid and safety certificate (including CPR for all ages of children) and is responsible for administering first aid and CPR to children. Such individuals must be with the children at all times when the center is in operation. If children are at different locations, there must be a first aid and CPR qualified staff member at each location. 
Rules Regulating Family Child Care Homes
  • 7.707.32A6, Prior to issuance of the license, the licensee and primary provider must complete: First Aid and CPR training, for all ages of children from infant to twenty-one (21) years of age.
