What Is a School-Age Program?
A school-age child care program is a child care center that provides care for children who are between 5 and 16 years of age. These programs are commonly known as “day camps,” “summer camps,” “summer playground programs,” “before and after school programs,” and “extended day programs.”
This course was developed for school-age child care programs that use a public or private playground at least once a week. This course was developed according to Colorado State Licensing rules and regulations for school-age child care programs and Consumer Product and Safety Commission (CPSC) best practices. It gives learners the knowledge and tools to identify many of the hazards found in school-age programs as well as best practices for how to keep children safe. The course "Playground Safety for School-Age Programs" is a prerequisite for this course.
