Apply For or Renew a Coaching Credential

Aligned to the Colorado Coaching Competencies for Early Childhood Coaches, the Colorado Coaching Credential recognizes coaches who have the foundational skills and dispositions necessary for effective coaching in the early childhood field. This provides statewide recognition to professionals working with adults in a coaching capacity.

Apply for the Colorado Coaching Credential 

  1. Apply for the Early Childhood Professional Credential through the Professional Development Information System and earn a Level 3, or higher
  2. Update your Experience Documentation Worksheet and upload it in your PDIS profile under “Early Childhood Experience”
  3. Complete Relationship-Based Professional Development training, or other approved, coaching-specific training* 
  4. Review the Coaching Credential Resource Documents
  5. Complete the Coaching Credential Application Packet and send directly to: ecpd@cde.state.co.us or via hardcopy to: The Early Childhood Workforce Development Team located at 201 East Colfax, Room 106 Denver, CO 80203  
  6. Have one supervisor** and one peer reference complete the Reference Form and send directly to: ecpd@cde.state.co.us or via hardcopy to: The Early Childhood Workforce Development Team located at 201 East Colfax, Room 106 Denver, CO 80203

To renew your Coaching Credential every three years, you will need to provide documentation of the ongoing professional development and the reflective supervision you engage in. Learn more under “Renew Your Colorado Coaching Credential”

How do I find a facilitator for reflective supervision/consultation?

Across Colorado, 34 Early Childhood Councils (ECCs) serve as hubs in their local communities to improve access to high quality services, including coaching and RS/C. Connect with your local ECC to find a facilitator of reflective supervision/consultation near you. Should your local ECC not have a staff member trained in RS/C please reach out to Christine Bauer at the Office of Early Childhood (303) 866-3107 or via email christine.bauer@state.co.us for additional information.

Renew Your Colorado Coaching Credential

Renewing your Colorado Coaching Credential requires that you have received 45 hours of early childhood or coaching-related professional development (or three college credits of early childhood or coaching-related content) and 25 hours of reflective supervision over the past three years.***
 

Steps to renew your Colorado Coaching Credential:

  1. Update your Early Childhood Professional Credential through the Colorado Shines PDIS to verify 45 hours of professional development or 3 college credits of early childhood and/or coaching-related content
  2. Review the Coaching Credential Renewal Checklist
  3. Complete the Colorado Coaching Competencies Self-Assessment 
  4. Update your Coaching Professional Development Plan
  5. Provide a letter or log verifying 25 hours of reflective supervision received over the last 3 years
  6. Complete the Coaching Credential Application (renewal)
  7. Send all documents from #4, 5 and 6 directly to The Early Childhood Workforce Development Team located at 201 East Colfax, Room 106 Denver, CO 80203 or via email in pdf format to: ecpd@cde.state.co.us
